Seminars

This term we have to present seminars that have to be eight to twelve minutes long on a topic which is related to your career you are interested in for later on in life. I have chosen to do my seminar on the RNZAF (Royal New Zealand Air Force). My main idea is to make a virtual tour of the Wellington  RNZAF and also make a flight simulator for some people to try out during my seminar because I think that some people will really enjoy it.

TVNZ6 Web Page Design

At the beginning of September our class entered in the TVNZ6 multi media  challenge where you/your group create your own website about being financially safe for children beginning adulthood. We sent our entries in to the competition, but we did not win anything but one group from our class did make it to the finales and are going up to Auckland soon for the awards ceremony. My groups web-site was very inter resting I think but not good enough. Here is the link to my website. Click Here

NZ AIMS

What a fantastic week in the city of Tauranga. All 95 students represented the school to the best of their ability; demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship in their repective codes.

The games were opened by Tauranga Intermediate's principal Brian Diver, we were entertained by a Sweet and Sour and inspired by Danyon Loader who encouraged us to BELIEVE.

During the week we experienced the highs and lows of competitive sport. We were excited for our fellow students who received medals in cheerleading (GOLD), cross country (BRONZE) and trampolining (SILVER AND BRONZE).
We were lucky to meet Danyon Loader and hold one of his gold medals from the Atlanta Olympic Games. We also had a photo with Stacey Jones.

We bonded with our teams and learnt to clean our rooms....over and over again.

AIMS was a very special week for us all. One that we will never forget.

Cross Country

Cross country track.
Yesterday it was cross country at our school. We would be starting at 1pm, and the races would go in this order: Year 7 girls, Year 7 boys, Year 8 girls, Year 8 boys. I was in the last race and I got 89th but I know I could have done way better but I didn't because there was no point. None of my parents were there so I didn't try. First place was won by Lucus Hey. The track was 1.6km long and very easy. Here is a picture of the route.

NZ AIMS

This year Pukekohe Intermediate are attending the NZ AIMS sport tournament. We are going for many sports like Hockey, Netball, Soccer and many other fun and interesting sports. We are sending down 95 students from our school and in that group are the three time defending champions for hockey. Aims is held in Tauranga from Sunday the fifth of September till the tenth of September. We are taking down 10 teams which are, Hockey, Netball, Soccer, Gym sports, Cheer leading, Cross country, Rugby 7s, Golf, Tennis, and swimming. Aims started in 2004 with only 22 participating schools and are now hosting 88 schools. Maths Week 2010

This week has been Maths week! This year we have a variation of different activities and also at my school we had a mathex competition and 2 teams from every class went to the qualifying round and the top 8 made it through to the final but in my class we only had 1 team consisting of Ben, Carlos, MARK, and me. In the qualifying round my team got second with 40 points out of 50 and first place was room 13 and then us then room 1. In the final round though we got last place because we didn't know most of the questions. As well as that we had a 10.15 sprint in the morning where a maths problem would come over the loud speaker then each class had to work it out and send someone to run the the teacher and if you were the first one there and your answer was correct your class got a bag off lollies and it happened every day and we didn't get it until today and there is 19 classes in our school so we did well. Another competition we had was at morning tea we had to go to the library and look at the maths equation and bring the answer to the duty teacher for a chocolate bar. And everyday there is a class challenge where your class has to figure out the maths problem and then take your answer to room 1 to be in the draw for a mufti. And there is also a individual challenge where you have to get a sheet of paper and write down all the answers that have been delivered to your class through out this week. And there is also 2 more competitions 1 is the design a poster competition and the design a maths game which i think i can trust you to know what they are. And every entry for a competition goes into the draw for an xbox 360 and every win in a competition puts another entry in the draw again for you. And just for my class because we are the ICT class we get to go on maths week which is a website where you complete challenges to earn maths week dollars. And at the end of the week you can bid on auctions and win cool stuff. All your extra maths week dollars go into the big maths week draw.
